Sunita: Arvind Kejriwal’s Arrest Result of Political Plot, False Witness Statement

Arvind Kejriwal,Sunita Kejriwal believes her husband Arvind’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21, connected to the 2021-22 excise policy, is politically driven by Prime Minister Modi. She claims TDP MP Reddy made a false statement on July 17, accusing Kejriwal of demanding Rs 100 crore. Currently in judicial custody, Sunita defends his honesty. Virendra Sachdeva from Delhi BJP supports the judiciary and criticizes her claims.

In New Delhi, Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, claimed on Saturday that her husband was a target of a serious political plot. She stated that the Enforcement Directorate arrested Kejriwal in connection with the excise policy case solely on the basis of a false statement made by a witness. Sunita further alleged in a video message that the ED relied on the statement of TDP MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, whose son was also arrested in the case and was denied bail.

Reddy’s son, Raghava Magunta Reddy, was released on bail shortly after Reddy made his statement. The Telugu Desam Party is part of the National Democratic Alliance, which is in power at the Centre. When asked about various issues, MS Reddy declined to comment. The Delhi BJP expressed surprise at Sunita Kejriwal for questioning the judiciary.

Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in connection with a money laundering case related to alleged irregularities in the excise policy of 2021-22, which has since been cancelled. He is currently in judicial custody after being arrested by the CBI in the same case last month.

Sunita Kejriwal accused MS Reddy of changing his statement to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) after his son was arrested and denied bail. She claimed Reddy initially met Arvind Kejriwal in March 2021 regarding land for a charitable trust, but altered his statement in July 2023. According to Sunita, Reddy’s revised statement suggested that Kejriwal asked him, in front of nearly 10 people, to enter the liquor business in Delhi and contribute Rs 100 crore to AAP. She disputed the credibility of this revised statement.

Sunita alleged that PM Narendra Modi intended to discredit Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) using agencies like the ED and CBI. She appealed to the public to share a video supporting her husband, describing him as honest, educated, and patriotic. Sunita expressed concern that mistreatment of Kejriwal could discourage educated individuals from entering politics.

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva criticized Sunita Kejriwal for questioning the judiciary and accused her of manipulating facts. He emphasized that bail and pardons are decisions made by courts, independent of investigative agencies. Sachdeva asserted that the case against Arvind Kejriwal was substantiated by multiple pieces of evidence, not solely reliant on MS Reddy’s statement.
