Zelda Williams replied to the post with her own message. She said, “I’ve seen this false info going around. Dad didn’t have a pet monkey, and nobody should own one. If you’re thinking about it, support local animal rescues instead. The monkey in the photo was a co-star from ‘Night at the Museum’ and now lives at a rescue.”

The photo in question shows Crystal the monkey, who played Dexter in the “Night at the Museum” movies. Robin Williams posted this image on Instagram as one of his last posts before he died. In the July 21, 2014 post, he wrote, “Happy Birthday to me! A visit from one of my favorite leading ladies, Crystal.”
Zelda Williams explained that the photo was real but was not her father’s last picture. She clarified that the monkey was not a pet, as the post falsely claimed, and urged people not to try and own exotic animals. She emphasized that while the photo is genuine, the rest of the story is false.
