Big changes are coming to Port Charles: Kelly Monaco, who plays Sam McCall on General Hospital, is leaving the show. Deadline confirmed that Monaco, who has been with the show since 2003 and has appeared in over 2,200 episodes, will be leaving this fall. She has been nominated for two Daytime Emmys and won the first season of Dancing with the Stars.
Soap Opera Network was the first to report this news.
Monaco’s departure is similar to what happened on CBS’ The Bold & the Beautiful earlier this year. The show’s Executive Producer, Brad Bell, decided to kill off the character Sheila Carter, played by Kimberlin Brown. Brown said it was a tough decision, but the show later decided to bring her character back.
