According to Maycon Cristo, a spokesperson for the São Paulo fire brigade, officials are carefully working through the wreckage to recover and identify the bodies. The conditions of the bodies make it challenging to identify them. To assist in this process, families have been asked to provide any medical documents of the victims, such as X-rays, medical records, or dental exams. This request was made in a statement from the São Paulo state government.
The details about the people who were on the plane are beginning to come out. Among those who lost their lives are a three-year-old girl and her father, as reported by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Santa Catarina, where the man worked. The regional airline Voepass, which operated the flight, has confirmed that all the passengers were Brazilian citizens. However, four of the victims had dual nationality: three were Venezuelan, and one was Portuguese.
The Venezuelan victims included a woman, her mother, and her four-year-old son. They were also traveling with their pet dog.
In response to the tragedy, the State of São Paulo has declared three days of official mourning to honor the victims. The plane had been traveling from Cascavel, a city in the Brazilian state of Paraná, to Guarulhos, a city in São Paulo state, when it lost contact.
Preparations are expected to start on Monday for a wake to be held in Cascavel, the city from which the plane took off.
