Driving Licence New Rules 2024

Driving Licence New Rules In India, getting a driving license can be either easy or hard. If you have money, it can be very easy. Many people get their Driving license without even taking the test or driving a car because they pay for it. This shows there is a big need for change in the system. The government has taken a big step to address this issue.

Let’s start by looking at what’s really happening. Getting a driving license in India used to depend a lot on how flexible you were. If you were willing to pay extra money, you could get it easily. If not, the process could be very long.

Many times, you had to visit the RTO office again and again, asking them to move your application forward. You had to fill out many forms and provide lots of documents. The process was very complicated.

Because of this complicated process, corruption started to grow in the system. When things are hard for regular people, they look for other ways to get things done. This corruption was spreading because of unnecessary delays.

To handle these problems, we needed a proper system in place.

Imagine someone who doesn’t know how to drive and hasn’t taken a driving test but still gets a driving license. Now, if that person starts driving on the road, what do you think will happen? If they don’t drive properly, accidents can occur because they weren’t tested correctly.

To address this issue, the Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways has announced new regulations. These new rules will start from June 1st. Remember, these changes will begin on June 1st.

NO RTO DRIVING TEST REQUIRED (Driving Licence New Rules 2024):

The first thing mentioned is that no RTO driving test is required. Now, what is RTO? RTO stands for Regional Transport Office. If you want to get a driving license, you usually have to go to your nearest RTO. There are over 1,100 RTOs in the country.

Earlier, there was a talk by Nitin Gadkari about wanting to change the system and remove RTOs. However, changing the whole system is not easy. Traditionally, you had to visit the RTO, take a test, and then go through a long process to get your driving license.

Now, the government has introduced new rules. If you don’t want to go to the RTO for the test, it’s okay. The government will give recognition to some private driving schools. You’ve probably seen people learning to drive on the roads with these schools.

If you don’t want to go to the RTO for a test, the government will allow some private driving schools to conduct the tests. You might have seen people learning to drive on the roads with big signs saying “Driving School.” Some of these driving schools will be authorized to give the tests.

So, you won’t need to visit the RTO or request anything there. Just go to a nearby accredited private driving school. In private, things are often more straightforward, and you can get your driving license from them.

The Central Government will give certificates to private players, allowing them to conduct driving tests. When people go to these private driving schools and pass the test, they will receive a certificate.

However, if you don’t take the test at a private driving school and don’t get a certificate, you will need to go to the RTO (Regional Transport Office) to take the driving test. There, you will have to show your driving skills, whether for a two-wheeler or a four-wheeler.

So now, you should understand that you no longer need to go to the RTO for testing if you have a certificate from a private driving school.

They plan to switch to electric vehicles, showing a strong move towards electric transportation.

PROCEDURE UNCHANGED :

Before, you had to show a lot of documents like address proof and ID. Now, two ministers have said that they can’t change the whole system, but they will try to simplify the paperwork. So, it will be made simpler. You won’t need as many documents as before.

Whether you have a two-wheeler or a four-wheeler, you’ll need fewer documents now. Instead of going to the RTO with physical and original documents, you won’t need to show them as much. There were many issues before because people tried to find shortcuts or gave bribes to get their licenses without proper documents. Now, you won’t need to do that anymore.

The government has said that private driving schools need to follow new guidelines. These schools, where people learn to drive, must have certain things.

First, driving licence training centers should have at least one acre of land. If they teach four-wheelers, they need at least two acres of land.

Second, these driving schools must provide proper testing facilities for their students.

Lastly, the trainers who teach driving should have at least a high school diploma or an equivalent certificate and five years of driving experience. You need to take at least 29 hours of training in a driving course within 4 weeks.
