Nominations for the ICC Chairman position were due by August 27. Since Jay Shah was the only candidate, no election was needed.
After being chosen without opposition, Shah said in an ICC statement, “I am honored to be nominated as ICC Chair. I will work closely with the ICC team and member nations to make cricket more global. We need to balance different formats, use new technologies, and introduce our major events to new markets. Our aim is to make cricket more inclusive and popular.”
He added, “We will build on what we’ve learned but also bring in new ideas to grow cricket worldwide. The sport’s inclusion in the 2028 LA Olympics is a major step for cricket’s growth, and I believe it will advance the sport in exciting ways.”
