Raja Sankranti, this particular day is seen to be celebrated once a year(Asadha) in Odisha. Also called Swing Festival. Raja festival is celebrated to honor Mother earth and also to celebrate womanhood. As we already getting the meaning of Raja which is derived from Sanskrit word “Rajaswala” which means a “Menstruating women”. It is celebrated for 4 days. These four days have been categorised with different specified name which are 1. Pahili Raja 2.Mithuna Sankranti 3. Basi Raja 4. Basumati Snana.
Raja festival in Odisha
“Banaste Dakila Gaja, Barasaku Thare Asichi Raja” Famous and most popular song of Raja. Raja festival can never be celebrate without this song.
It is celebrated by some states of India but in Odisha we celebrate it with a great splendidness and glitter. Where women is free from all the house chores and they take care of themselve. On this special day some most loving activities are included Swinging, traditional games, special cuisine, Music and Dance and Cultural Programs.

Rules for Raja Festival
Do not walk barefoot, it is the only rule for girls.
