The Ram Mandir in Ayodhya was inaugurated just a few months ago. However, since yesterday, many news reports are saying that the temple’s roof is leaking because of the first rain.
These claims are coming directly from the chief priest of the Ram Temple. Naturally, if the temple is already having issues just days after its inauguration, many questions about its construction quality are being raised.
When the inauguration happened, there were big claims that the temple would last for thousands of years due to its excellent construction. But now, there seem to be some underlying reasons for these problems.
There is an important issue of leakage happening at the temple’s sanctum sanctorum. This is a very crucial area. The committee is trying to address this problem. Due to heavy rain, Ayodhya is also facing many issues.
The Ram Mandir’s Roof Leakage: A Concern for Devotees and Engineers
six months after the grand opening of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, the temple’s chief priest, Acharya Satyendradass, gave an interview to ANI and BDI. He directly accused that the ceiling or roof of the Ram Temple is leaking rainwater.
He explained that in the sanctum sanctorum, where the idol of Ram is placed, water is leaking from the roof. This is a very important matter because there is no drainage system inside to handle this water. The chief priest is quite surprised and concerned about this issue.
He mentioned that many engineers are present at the temple, but despite their presence, the problem persists. This leakage can cause trouble for people visiting the temple and might damage the sanctum sanctorum if not addressed soon.
Ram Mandir Construction Issues
Why is this leakage happening? First, let me tell you that the biggest issue right now is about the Ram Temple. When you see pictures of it, remember it’s just a model and not yet complete. The construction is ongoing, and even when the inauguration happened, opposition parties claimed it wasn’t finished. They said the government was rushing the inauguration before elections.
The temple still needs a lot of work. The upper level, including the spire, isn’t done yet. This temple follows the Nagar style, which is common in North India. Because it’s not completely built, there are problems like rainwater leaking.
The committee members overseeing the construction say these issues will be solved once the spire is completed. Nirupendra Mishra, who was close to Prime Minister Modi and his personal secretary, has been given responsibility for this project. He admitted seeing rainwater dropping from the first floor and explained that it’s expected because the roof is exposed until the second floor and spire are finished.
So, while there are problems now, they should be fixed as construction progresses. When it’s done, it will be completely covered. What is being said today that there is water leakage in the sanctum sanctorum, you will not see that. Clarification has been given and he has said many things.
He said that I have also seen some seepage from the pipes because construction work is still going on here. Once all these things are completed, there will be improvement. He said that we have deliberately not provided any drainage for water in Sanctum Sanctorum because it makes no sense. If a little water comes there, it will absorb itself and the question of water coming there does not arise.
Flooding Issues in Ayodhya
There is a problem in Ayodhya. A special road called Ram Path was built, starting from a particular place and going to the Ram Temple. It looks nice, but many streets connect to it.
When it rained heavily in Ayodhya, these connecting streets got flooded. Water filled up about 13 streets. People are raising questions about this issue.
When asked, the District Magistrate of Ayodhya said that the Public Works Department did the work, so they should answer. The Mayor of Ayodhya, Girish Pati Tripathi, said they are trying to flush out the rainwater. As soon as they found out about the problem, they started an operation to fix it.
However, if so much money was spent on this project, such problems should not happen in the future. The government needs to pay attention to this. The Congress party has accused the BJP of corruption regarding this issue.
The Congress Party Directly Accuses the BJP of Corruption
The Congress party has directly accused the BJP of corruption. Ajay Rai, the Congress Chief in Uttar Pradesh, says that the BJP has used opportunities like building temples and handling martyrs’ coffins for corruption. He claims that the BJP has turned symbols of faith and purity into chances for corruption.
For example, he mentioned that 624 crore rupees were spent on a project, but it wasn’t done properly, leading to corruption. Before I end, let me tell you that in Uttar Pradesh, places like Ayodhya and Varanasi have seen a lot of recent visitors. Varanasi had 8.5 crore tourists, while Prayagraj had 4.5 crore tourists.
