Congressman and the party’s overseas unit chief, stepped down from the post this evening amid a huge political row over his controversial remarks that came amid the massive seven-phase election. The announcement about Mr Pitroda came in a terse post on X from the party’s communications-in-charge Jairam Ramesh. Sam Pitroda’s statement was
We have survived 75 years in a very happy environment where people could live together, leaving aside few fights here and there. We could hold a country together as diverse as India, where people on the east look like Chinese, people on the West look like Arab, people on the North look like white and maybe people on the South look like Africans.” This was his statement on India’s diversity but it’s not what it sounds like, it expresses his perception and thought process and as a chief of congress and leader this not acceptable by anyone. As we Indian believe in the statement “Every Indians are my brothers and sisters” .This was such an controversial statement by Mr. Pitroda.
