Scotty McCreery paused his concert to help someone in the crowd.
At the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo, Colo., on Saturday, Aug. 24, the former American Idol winner stopped singing when he saw a man who was accused of hitting a woman in the audience.
Concertgoer Jessica Rosario shared a video showing McCreery stopping the show at the start of his song “It Matters To Her.”
Rosario told PEOPLE, “Scotty was talking about his wife Gabi’s favorite song. As he began singing, he saw the man allegedly hit the woman, so he stopped the show and had the man removed by security.”
McCreery’s representative told PEOPLE that the singer has chosen not to comment on the situation.

In a video, Scotty McCreery is seen pointing to someone in the audience and saying, “That’s a lady you just hit, sir. This is not okay. Get the police or security. Is she alright? Get out of here.”
He continued, “At a Scotty McCreery show? What are you doing?” After addressing the alleged attacker, he asked security if everything was handled and said, “Hitting a lady is cowardly. Get out of here.” McCreery then checked on the crowd before continuing his performance. The man accused of hitting the woman was escorted out, but their identities and whether the man was arrested have not been disclosed.
Olga Robak from The Colorado Department of Agriculture confirmed the incident and said, “The performer stopped the show because a man assaulted a woman. The incident is still under investigation, and we can’t provide more details right now.”
