Mike Lynch, a 59-year-old British tech investor, was found dead after the Bayesian superyacht he was on sank. The yacht went down off the coast of Sicily early Monday morning after being hit by a tornado.
Lynch made his fortune by cofounding Autonomy, a tech company that Hewlett-Packard bought for $11 billion in 2011. His net worth was around $450 million. However, the Autonomy deal didn’t go as planned. HP had to write down $8.8 billion in value, leading to legal troubles and a fraud trial.
In June, Lynch was found not guilty of 15 charges related to the case. He was relieved by the verdict, which he said was crucial to his future.

Autonomy, a software company founded by Lynch in 1996, grew to be the largest in Britain and was listed on the FTSE 100 index. Lynch was praised by experts and was even asked to advise the British government on technology.
Lynch was on a yacht called the Bayesian, which is owned by his wife, Angela Bacares, through a company registered in the Isle of Man. His 18-year-old daughter, Hannah, is still missing, and divers are searching where the yacht sank.
Earlier today, rescuers brought a fifth body to shore from the wrecked boat. A CNN team saw Italian authorities move the body from a rescue boat to ambulances at a port in Porticello, Sicily.
