Telugu superstar Nagarjuna is facing trouble as the Hyderabad disaster response team demolished his convention center. They claimed it was built on land that belonged to the Tomiri Kunta lake. Nagarjuna took to social media to call this demolition unlawful. The Telangana High Court accepted an appeal from the owners and temporarily stopped the demolition.
Nagarjuna stated that the Hyderabad authorities were acting against court orders. He believes misinformation led to the demolition, despite a stay order being in place. The action was taken by Hydra, a new authority aimed at stopping encroachments on lakes and water bodies.
In 2014, a notification about Tomiri Kunta lake was issued, with a final one in 2016. It mentioned that constructions like Nagarjuna’s convention center had encroached on the lake’s buffer zone and full tank level. Hydra clarified that no stay order was granted to stop the demolition.
Hydra noted that several buildings, including Nagarjuna’s, had taken over parts of the lake, causing floods in nearby lower and middle-class areas. The lake’s capacity had decreased by 50 to 60 percent due to these encroachments.
On August 21st, following a complaint by Commissioner Venkat Reddy, authorities, along with police, demolished the structures. Nagarjuna expressed his pain over this action and called it illegal.
Nagarjuna Akkineni Condemns ‘Unlawful’ Demolition of N-Convention Centre, Claims Violation of Court Orders
Actor Nagarjuna Akkineni has strongly criticized Hyderabad authorities for what he calls the “unlawful” demolition of his N-Convention Centre in Madhapur. He claimed that the demolition happened even though the court had issued a temporary stay order.
The authorities said the convention center was built on land that encroached on Tammidikunta lake. The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) and other municipal departments have been clearing encroachments from the lake’s buffer zones, and the N-Convention Centre was listed as one of these unauthorized structures.
Pained by the unlawful manner of demolition carried out in respect of N Convention, contrary to existing stay orders and Court cases.

I thought it fit to issue this statement to place on record certain facts for protecting my reputation and to indicate that we have not done any…
In response, Nagarjuna stated he will challenge the demolition in court, asserting that the authorities acted illegally. He emphasized that the land was properly acquired and that there was a court order protecting the property from demolition. Nagarjuna also mentioned that no prior notice was given before the demolition.
HYDRAA noted that in 2014, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority issued guidelines for the lake’s buffer zones, with a final notification in 2016. They claimed that encroachments around Tammidikunta lake have caused flooding issues in Madhapur.
