Dhruv Rathee Faces Case ,A parody account using the handle @dhruvrahtee posted on social media that Om Birla’s daughter passed the UPSC exam without taking it.
The Maharashtra cyber police filed charges against YouTuber Dhruv Rathee based on a complaint from a relative of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. The complaint alleged that a parody account, resembling Rathee’s, falsely claimed Birla’s daughter passed the UPSC exam without taking it. Despite the account’s disclaimer as a parody, the police charged Rathee with defamation, intentional insult to provoke breach of peace, and making misleading statements under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and IT Act.
Responding to the incident, Rathee noted several attempts to defame him, emphasizing that he often faces false allegations, threats, and orchestrated campaigns against him. He took to social media, stating, “Fake allegations against me, daily death threats, dehumanizing insults, coordinated campaigns to defame me… I’m used to it by now.”
Earlier this year, Rathee faced criticism after a video about an alleged assault involving Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s aide led to threats against AAP MP Swati Maliwal. Rathee did not directly name any individuals in his response but highlighted ongoing challenges with false accusations and harassment.
